Pre-Arrest Investigations Criminal Defense Attorney
During a criminal investigation, law enforcement officers will often contact the suspect to ask him/her if they will voluntarily come down to the police station “to clear some things up.” This is never a good sign.
The police know they can question you without an attorney present if you come down to the station voluntarily. They also do not have to advise you of your Miranda rights until you are placed under arrest or you are “in custody.”
If you are under investigation for any crime, DO NOT SPEAK TO LAW ENFORCEMENT WITHOUT AN ATTORNEY.
